Introduction
Our aim is to empower you, help you understand your condition, and encourage you to be as proactive as possible when living with a lymphatic condition.
Our specialised therapy promotes the natural flow of lymphatic fluid, which can become stagnant due to various health conditions or lifestyle factors. By gently stimulating the lymphatic system, MLD helps reduce swelling, detoxify the body, and enhances overall immune function.
Whether you’re experiencing discomfort from lymphedema, post-surgical swelling, or chronic inflammation, my personalised sessions offer a holistic approach to restoring balance and vitality to your body.
“Discover the profound healing potential of MLD and take a step towards improved well-being.”
What is Lymphoedema?
Lymphoedema is a chronic condition causing swelling due to a buildup of lymph fluid in the body, often in the arms or legs, when the lymphatic system is unable to effectively drain fluid.
Here’s a more detailed explanation:
-
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes that helps fight infection and remove excess fluid from the body.
-
When the lymphatic system is damaged or doesn’t work properly, fluid can accumulate in the tissues, leading to swelling.
-
Primary lymphoedema: This occurs when the the lymphatic system doesn’t develop properly, often from birth.
Secondary lymphoedema: This develops later in life due to damage to the lymphatic system, often from cancer treatment or surgery.
-
Swelling in the arms or legs, which can extend into the fingers or toes.
Skin that looks red, puffy or thick and may feel hard.
Clothing and jewellery that feel too tight.
Pain, heaviness or limited motion in the affected limb.
Repeated infections.
-
There is no cure for lymphoedema, but treatment focuses on reducing swelling and preventing complications.
Non-surgical interventions: Manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy and exercise.
Surgical intervention: In some cases, surgery may be recommended.
Take the first step towards alleviating pain, better health and managing your condition.
